Celebrate Mother’s Day in Atlanta with Brunch and Gifts

Mother’s Day is May 14. Atlanta restaurants are ready to make it a great day for telling Mom, “Thanks for all you do.” Take a look at what’s on the menus of Atlanta restaurants ready to fete the moms. And, consider a few gifts.

5Church (Midtown and Buckhead)

Both 5Church locations, Midtown and Buckhead, invite you for a Mother’s Day buffet from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. with the last seating at 7:30 p.m. The buffet is priced at $60 per adult and $20 per child (12 and younger). Make reservations via OpenTable.

Alma Cocina

Alma Cocina Downtown plans brunch starting at 11 a.m. On the menu: tres leches French toast and additional brunch items including tequila shrimp & grits. At Alma Cocina Buckhead, brunch also begins at 11 a.m. and includes house-made Mexican breads, mezcal salmon Benedict and chicken chilaquiles.

The Americano

The Americano, located in the InterContinental Buckhead hotel and helmed by celebrity chef Scott Conant, will serve Mother’s Day specials including Dungeness crab and stuffed lobster with crab and shrimp stuffing, arugula salad and charred lemon, along with its newly launched Sunday brunch menu, featuring house-made favorites including steak and eggs, Wagyu beef cheek hash, pasta al pomodoro and a tableside Bloody Mary cart. There will be live music by Dan Coy. Mothers will be honored with complimentary welcome champagne upon arrival at the hotel, a rose and a hand massage in The Great Hall. Plus, kids can make pressed flower art for their mothers at the craft table. Brunch reservations are encouraged and can be made by visiting OpenTable or by calling the restaurant at 404 -946-9070. Mother’s Day festivities begin at 11 a.m. and run until 3 p.m.

The Big Ketch Saltwater Grill

For Mother’s Day, Buckhead’s Big Ketch Saltwater Grill will serve a special of seared yellowfin tuna topped with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and flavorful ginger soy glaze complemented by a sauté of green beans and baby carrots for $26.95

 The Cooks & Soldiers Mother’s Day-only menu features pan de platano (walnut banana bread), sarteneko (crispy polenta cake), specialty cocktails and more.

Georgia Aquarium

Georgia Aquarium invites families to bring Mom to a Mother’s Day brunch from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the Oceans Ballroom. It includes a full brunch curated by the aquarium’s Wolfgang Puck Catering chefs, complimentary admission to Georgia Aquarium, communal seating in the ballroom, where you can view the Ocean Voyager and beluga habitats, a cash bar and live entertainment. Seating in Oceans Ballroom is first-come first-served. Communal style means you may be sharing a table with other families celebrating. The aquarium encourages you to purchase your tickets to the brunch in one transaction and ask that you please show up on time. The folks at the aquarium know that delays happen, but ask that you do your best to anticipate traffic, parking and getting to the ballroom entrance. Entry to the brunch event is at the Oceans Ballroom entrance on the first level of the parking deck.

Gypsy Kitchen

Gypsy Kitchen will be open during its normal hours for Mother’s Day. For a savory breakfast option, shakshuka combines tomato, roasted red pepper, potato and a poached egg atop toasted bread for $15. For something heartier, you can opt for the brisket hash featuring crispy potato, poached eggs, brava sauce and gremolata for $18. For a lighter option, the grilled vegetable salad is a refreshing blend of mussels escabeche, poached shrimp, local lettuces and creamy sherry dressing for $20.

Hampton + Hudson

Hampton + Hudson serves weekend brunch every week from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., and to celebrate Mother’s Day, the restaurant will offer food and drink specials for the occasion, including “Mama Mia!” – honeysuckle vodka, bitters, orange and sparkling rose; and “She’s a Lady” – Empress gin, strawberry, lemon and soda; and mimosas.

Hartley Kitchen & Cocktails at Kimpton Shane Hotel

The approachable, casually polished American restaurant in the heart of Midtown offers brunch every Sunday, but for Mother’s Day, Chef de Cuisine Travis Cintron designed a special menu with fresh and nourishing ingredients. The prix fixe menu includes dishes such as lemon-ricotta pancakes, Belgian waffles, frittata with peas and crispy prosciutto, and fresh salads with seasonal fruits and arrays of flavors. Executive Pastry Chef Lindsey Davis plans to surprise all with an array of her deliciously crafted pastries, and the bar will be offering the perfect cocktails to celebrate Mom. Brunch will be served from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Stop at Iberian Pig from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. and enjoy a special selection of tapas, raciones, sparkling rosé sangria and plenty more.

King + Duke

During brunch from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., enjoy ricotta zeppoles, crispy pork belly + beef dripping fries alongside brunch staples like deviled eggs and buttermilk biscuits.

Kyma

Celebrate Mom at Kyma.

The contemporary seafood tavern is serving a special feast to help celebrate Mom. The Santorini Tasting featured for Mother’s Day starts off with a complimentary champagne toast to Mom, with an assortment of Greek spreads and grilled pita. The feast continues with appetizers, Greek salad, and then a grilled whole Nova Scotia lobster, grilled Spanish octopus, steamed little neck clams, sauteed Maine scallops, finished with lemon-garlic emulsion, grilled leeks, fingerling potatoes and drawn butter.

La Tavola Trattoria

La Tavola Trattoria promises a lunch featuring antipasti, French toast “panettone,” pasta and wine.

Lazy Betty

Lazy Betty is offering a brunch tasting menu with optional sparkling wine pairings, created especially for Mother’s Day. The menu will feature four savory courses and dessert, with the option for supplemental courses including caviar, truffle risotto and scallop pithivier. Brunch is $165 per person, and wine pairings are $115 per person. Reservations can be booked and guests are invited to purchase a bouquet for mom made by the restaurant’s florist, Tracy Shepis, at the time of booking. The menu includes grilled avocado with charred citrus, green goddess and spicy greens; truffled French omelet with black truffle butter, chive and mushroom duxelle; smoked salmon with potato latke, soft poached eggs and brown butter hollandaise; and charcoal grilled Westholme Wagyu with porcini and egg yolk tartlet and sauce bordelaise. For dessert, there will be cheesecake with lemon cremeux, raspberry foam, citrus tuile, meringue and raspberry sorbet — or petit fours. Brunch is served from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Livingston Restaurant & Bar

Livingston Restaurant & Bar, located in the historic Georgia Terrace hotel, is serving a Mother’s Day brunch buffet in its grand ballroom from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Highlights include a selection of appetizers, entrees and desserts. Choices include poached shrimp, roasted beef tenderloin, brown sugar-cured ham, grilled asparagus with saffron aioli and red velvet cake. You also will enjoy live entertainment, and mothers will receive a complimentary rose. The cost is $95 for adults, $47.50 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for children younger than 5. Two hours of self-parking is complimentary. Make reservations via OpenTable. Pre-payment is required.

Decatur’s No. 246 is having a one-day-only brunch from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., featuring ricotta fritters, brioche French toast, No. 246 meatballs and daytime cocktails.

Palo Santo

Chef Santiago Gomez promises a one-day-only Mother’s Day menu curated by Gomez himself.

Ray’s in the City

Ray’s in the City hopes to make mom feel special with a family-style menu served from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. On the menu: house-smoked salmon, signature seafood gumbo, holiday Neuske ham, crab cakes, Southern-style baked mac and cheese, and Georgia peach cobbler. The cost is $80 per person. Reservations are required and can be made online.

Rays on the River

Ray’s on the River honors mom with a Mother’s Day buffet from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for $80 per person. Highlights include starters of fresh spinach dip, Charleston she-crab soup and Caesar salad; entrees such as eggs Benedict, slow-roasted prime rib and Faroe Island salmon; and Oreo bread pudding and Key lime pie mousse for dessert. Reservations are required and can be made online.

South City Kitchen

South City Kitchen plans all-day prix-fixe brunch and dinner menus.

Southern Belle

Southern Belle will be open on Mother’s Day from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Alongside its traditional wine pairings, Southern Belle also is offering a rosé flight—three different rosés from three different regions. Tickets are $107, gratuity included, and seating is limited. Reservations can be made online.

Southern Gentleman

At the Southern Gentleman you can begin by indulging in blueberry and Meyer lemon muffins served with whipped spiced butter. The main course brings options including the classic double-patty cheeseburger, half butter-poached lobster, and grits and braised prime short rib “pot roast” hash. You can finish the meal with a dessert such as vanilla bean cheesecake with bourbon and brown sugar pineapple compote. The prix fixe meal is $65 for adults and $32.50 for children.

Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame

Mothers Day at the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame includes the following: Moms get free admission and a host of complimentary items. The first 100 moms to arrive will receive a $25 gift card to The Home Depot. In addition, there will be complimentary massages from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and free mimosas (up to two) from 11 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. All that, and Moms get to celebrate their favorite team as well.  

Hatter’s High Tea Returns

This Mother’s Day, Buckhead Village’s venerable hat-making company B.M. Franklin & Co. will host its third annual Hatter’s High Tea, celebrating all the mothers and powerful female figures in our lives. You will have the opportunity to choose from a wide array of haberdashery, including feathers, lace, flowers and vintage hardware, to create a one-of-a-kind custom headpiece alongside classically trained artisans at B.M. Franklin & Co. This year the event will feature Julia Pistsova, founder of the KiKi Bisous atelier. With her expertise in women’s wear and costume design, Julia will be joining B.M. Franklin & Co.’s Brandon Franklin to help create a bespoke fascinator. You also can also indulge in high tea, appetizers and cocktails sponsored by Grey Goose. Tickets are $150 per person.

Sugar Shane’s is baking some special cookies for Mom. Choose from carrot cake — spiced carrot cake base with toasted oats, butterscotch chips, cinnamon buttercream filling and cinnamon drizzle; lemon lover — a lemony cookie with white chocolate, vanilla buttercream and lemon glaze; s’mores of love — a dark chocolate cookie with graham crackers, milk chocolate chips and a fluffy toasted marshmallow topping; and momma’s shortcake — a strawberry shortcake cookie with white chocolate chips, freeze-dried strawberries, golden Oreos and strawberry drizzle on top.
