Health and Safety Procedures Regarding COVID-19

Welcome back to Atlanta!

The safety and health of our visitors is Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau’s (ACVB) top priority. We are fully engaged with local and state officials as travel returns. Hospitality partners throughout Atlanta continue to implement procedures to safeguard our guests as we welcome you back.

Mask and vaccination guidelines

The city of Atlanta’s indoor mask mandate has been lifted and masks are optional inside Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Private business owners can require patrons to show proof of vaccination.


Air travel

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL)

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport continues working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Transportation and Security Administration (TSA), airlines, contractors and concessionaires to help manage and mitigate the spread of the virus. The CDC will continue to conduct enhanced screenings of passengers exhibiting symptoms. Masks are optional inside the airport.

Implemented measures at ATL include:

  • Increased frequency of cleaning of public areas
  • Use of environmentally-friendly cleaning and disinfectant in public areas
  • Additional education and training of employees
  • Signage to provide guidance and education to passengers and employees
  • Messages on digital displays
  • Daily coordination with public health, CDC and other agencies for updates, additional guidance and instructions

Delta Air Lines

Delta Air Lines is transforming expectations for cleanliness across airports and on aircrafts to deliver a new standard of clean for customers: Delta CareStandard. The global airline implemented more than 100 layers of protection to ensure a safer travel experience, including regularly sanitizing high-touch surfaces. Masks are optional on Delta flights.


MARTA continues to thoroughly clean its facilities, rail stations, buses and trains with a focus on high-touch areas such as handrails, elevator buttons and Breeze machines.

Rideshare, taxi, limousine and bus services

Companies are taking preventive action to combat the spread of COVID-19 and encourage passengers to follow CDC guidelines when riding in vehicles.

  • Wear a cloth face covering if you have certain personal risk factors and/or high transmission levels in your area
  • Limit contact
  • Clean and disinfect surroundings
  • Practice everyday preventive actions


In response to COVID-19, the American Hotel & Lodging Association introduced the Stay Safe initiative with enhanced industry-wide cleaning standards.
